No Tip for You!!

It's been awhile since I've last had my nails and toenails done. I decided to go yesterday and treat myself...

When I was halfway there I realized that I hadn't shaved that morning. I had already called to ask if they had an opening and I really just wanted to get it done. I figured that it couldn't be that big of a deal, right?

I'm sitting in the chair relaxing...the nail tech is rubbing my legs and she looks up at me and says, "you need a shave, huh?" I was literally struck dumb as my jaw hit the floor....now I'm not a hairy, amazon woman or anything and I didn't even think the situation was forest like or anything but I guess when your rubbing someones leg you can feel stubble.

So, I'm thinking here comes the sales pitch for waxing...when the nails tech looks down and gets back to work.

So seriously, my nail tech outed my leg stubble...good thing she wasn't rubbing my arm pits....

What would you do in my situation?

That was RUDE and uncalled for. You might not know this, but I work in a salon...

(hahahaha I actually typed that with a straight face)

...and nail techs have seen it all, from something as normal and minor as stubbly legs to women who have really, really bad fungus or other foot issues (the ones who shouldn't be getting a pedicure in a public place, and in fact at our salon are turned away w/ a coupon for the next visit after they see a doctor because of sanitary reasons), but the key in a service-oriented industry is that you have to give the customer some fantastic personal attention and do your best to pamper them. I don't know one person who would feel more relaxed during a pedicure after being told "you need a shave, huh?"

RUDE. RUDE. RUDE.

yea... that was UNNECESSARY. I'm embarrassed to admit I've gone for a few pedis in my past and the hair was visible, measurable even... but you know what? That's their job. To perform a service, to help you relax and NOT to make you self conscious. That was very inappropriate of her, in my opinion.

♥ I think I would have said sarcastically, "Yeah, ya like that?"

That would have irked me!

i do that all the time sadly.

they say you aren't supposed to shave the day of in case you have any nicks or scratches to prevent infection . um i've never had the nail tech chic say anything to me though,I'd probably laugh and say, "pretty huh? you know my hubs loves that!"

seriously it's job security that you are there in the first place.

RUDE!

Duh that was totally uncalled for. If the nail tech was sensitive to her customer's feelings she would've put herself in your shoes and realized that any mention would've been unnecessary and uncalled for.

Very rude. I probably would have laughed and told her she could throw that in as part of the treatment!

Long answer, Ill try to keep it short. 1) I'm so against professional peddies, only because of all the infections people end up getting (PS I'm a licensed hairdresser/manacurist) but alot of times they clip them wrong or dont clean there stuff properly and can cause infections. ANYWAY, I just read the other day that you SHOULD NOT shave the day you get a peddie, because if you have the slightest cut, you can get an infection, so I say quit shaving and tell her that. hehe

WOW. This person needs to be a TAD bit more professional. That was completely uncalled for and rude.

I'd probably say something like "You should see my crotch" just to be an idiot...then I'd accidentally let my foot slip and deck her in the chin.
